8/1/2023 0 Comments Amazon kindle account for kids![]() When you exit a child profile, to a parent profile, you get all of the good and bad that comes with the regular Kindle interface. The most prominent of those features are the heavily-criticized Goodreads social media platform and the Experimental Browser. When you switch to a parent account, you regain access to the Kindle and Audible stores, as well as a lot of stuff I wish wasn't in there by default. This gamification isn't an affront, and could provide good motivation for kids to keep reading. The only exception is the Awards section, where Amazon will present little trophies to your young reader, encouraging them to read more. From the home screen - which shows your books, followed by recently opened books, similar books, category sections and rows for new and popular books - to the menus, you'll see little that isn't directed at focusing your attention on reading. That's because it's all books, and just books. Kindle Kids Edition interfaceĮven though I'm in my thirties, I still prefer (most of) the Kindle interface that kids get. Amazon left so much of what's good about the Kindle in the Kids Edition that younger readers will certainly feel respected, and not talked down to. Of course, kids get all the other standard e-reader reading experiences, such as digital bookmarks and indicators for time left in the book. ![]() Once your kid's found the mix that's just right, they can save those settings as a theme, which I'm guessing could be great for the particular readers. Kids looking for larger words can select from 6 boldness settings (including off) and 14 font sizes. You also get multiple options for standard customization settings - line spacing (3), margins (3), orientation (portrait, landscape) and alignment (center or left). Flipping through a choose-your-own-adventure style Star Wars book about Han and Chewie, I saw its illustrations appear clearly, without cause for concern.Īmazon includes 9 fonts, including its own Amazon Ember and Bookerly, as well as industry standards Helvetica and Futura. Then again, this is a device for children, who probably don't have as discerning an eye when it comes to this. When I increased the size of the font (as kids certainly will) on both a 300 ppi Kindle Oasis and the Kindle Kids Edition, I saw the former create smoother text and the latter show letters that were not as crisp. The Kindle Kids Edition's 167 pixel-per-inch resolution is good enough, but not great. We might not have liked most of the Nook GlowLight 3, but even that e-reader had less friction in its brightness adjustment. And while the three steps it takes - tapping once to open the menu bar, tapping Settings and then selecting the right brightness on a scale of 1 to 24 - may not sound like a lot of work, it would be neat to have. I only wish its front light automatically adjusted per the ambient lighting around you, as kids will need to fiddle with the settings. It still feels like a worthwhile bump here, especially for how much more reading children can accomplish when other sources of lighting aren't available.Īs I read a bit of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in a dark room at the Tom's Guide office, I saw that it gets more than bright enough, especially when you turn its brightness up to maximum luminance. The Kindle Kids Edition features the same front light that Amazon added to the normal Kindle, which brought its price from $80 to $90. Kids don't need to turn a light on to keep reading. That front cover flap also sticks to the back of the case, making it easier to use when reading. Hopefully, this means a Kindle Kids Edition can survive even the most chaotic backpack. ![]() This set of four gives parents a solid range to find a case that their child will appreciate - or at least be indifferent to.Īside from looking cute, the cases provide protection to the still-pretty-fragile e-ink screen, as their magnetic covers require some force to open. On the back side, where the drawing continues, one of these birdies is using a small, black rectangular-shaped device that could be a Kindle or a smartphone.Īmazon's other case options are solid blue and pink designs, and the fourth is called Space Station, and has aliens and other interplanetary lifeforms, as well as a submarine and some aquatic life. Some of those avian friends are smiling, some are wearing winter accessories and one's even listening to headphones. Our test unit came with an adorable case that features a drawing of a variety of birds on telephone cable wires. (Image credit: Future) Kindle Kids Edition cases ![]()

8/1/2023 0 Comments Trove apartments![]() Critics have called that white supremacy, an accusation he has denied.Ī lawyer for The Times, The AP and National Public Radio wrote this week to Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis, who presided over the Dominion case, reiterating that the news organizations want to see redacted documents from the case opened to the public. He drew controversy for supporting theories such as the idea that immigrants are being admitted to the U.S to “replace” people born here. “If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?”īefore his ouster last month, Carlson was Fox’s top-rated host. “I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed,” Carlson wrote, after admitting part of him was rooting for the attackers. “Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously,” he wrote, according to the Times. He describes a video he had seen a couple weeks earlier of Trump supporters beating someone he described as “an antifa kid.”Ĭarlson wrote about his conflicting emotions in watching the fight, which he described as “three against one, at least.” The Times reported that Carlson sent the text to a producer hours after Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Media organizations, including The Associated Press, continue to try to lift the redactions. While some of Carlson’s texts have been publicly released as part of the lawsuit, the one quoted by the Times remains redacted by the court, as do numerous other exhibits. Messages sent to Carlson and his attorney seeking comment were not immediately returned. “Part of me can’t escape the idea that this is to demonstrate that Tucker was a liability,” he said.įox declined comment Wednesday on how the material on Carlson had surfaced. In another, he shares offscreen sexual banter with Piers Morgan before an interview, commenting to someone offscreen that a person’s girlfriend “was kind of yummy.” He is also heard saying how he waits for his “post-menopausal fans” to make comments about his appearance.Īngelo Carusone, Media Matters chairman and president, would not comment Wednesday on how Media Matters acquired the material. In one, Carlson is seen speaking to someone offscreen disparaging Fox’s streaming service, Fox Nation. Three times in the past week, the anti-Fox watchdog Media Matters for America has released “hot mic” moments of Carlson speaking while on Fox sets, material that was never included on broadcasts. The newspaper said the discovery “contributed to a chain of events” that led to Carlson being fired April 24, less than a week after Fox agreed to pay Dominion nearly $800 million to settle the case. But the Times suggested the timing was crucial, as members of Fox’s board found out about the message as part of documents uncovered in the defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems, shortly before a trial was to begin last month. The sentiment was not out of character for Carlson, who has promoted the view that whites are being “replaced” by people of color. In it, Carlson declared that a group of Trump supporters beating a protester was “not how white men fight.” ![]() ![]() The latest was in The New York Times on Wednesday, reporting on a text message that had been redacted as part of a recent defamation case targeting the network. NEW YORK (AP) - A week after Fox News fired star host Tucker Carlson - for reasons that remain unexplained - he has been the subject of a handful of embarrassing stories about some of his private messages and statements while at the network. ![]() 8/1/2023 0 Comments Avid pro tools 11 mac![]() I hadn't used the computer after the deletion - only to download the recovery software. Thanks for the speedy responses, very much appreciated! Even then one of the US government alphabet agencies could probably pull the data back. To totally remove soemthing you have to do a 'secure' delete or use something like the recently in the US political news called BleachBit. ![]() When you delete something from the trash it's not really removed from the system. The only way to recover something deleted is to immediately stop doing anything on the computer and run the recovery s/w. So any recovery s/w we mere mortals have access to won't bring everything back that is needed. What more likely than not happened after you deleted the files or thought you did the disk space where the files are/were some of it got overwritten by newer data. I ran a recovery software scanner (EaseUs) and it has found most of the ptx files that I deleted, but I do no think that it found every ptx file that I deleted, and the file that I am looking for was it found in the scan.ĭoes any one have any insight on how to recover a ptx file that was deleted from the trash bin? it was a pretty large file, could that have anything to do with it not being found in the scan?Īlso if you have a preferred recovery software, please let me know. ![]() But of course it is possible that deleted it as well. I recently deleted some old sessions from my trash bin, and now one of the sessions that I'm pretty sure I did not delete cannot be found. ![]() 8/1/2023 0 Comments Bonanza mini bike chopper kit![]() I know my original bike is as it was bought first hand. Maybe to the owner, a buyer, or a collector. It comes down to this: there is a difference between a bike that is in original condition with a known history and one that is a restoration that may be set up slightly different and have reproduction parts. So what is right? Maybe the brochure shows, but Bonanza may have switched the way they set them up at anytime. Gee, when I restore my second bike, which side should I put the rear sprocket and brake on? I guess when it's a restoration and you use the jackshaft and it has brake cable clips on both sides, you can do it either way. Notice different clutch covers, different mufflers, etc. My bike has some differences from the brochures, yet my parts list for "69 models shows what was available. The fancy bikes sometimes have reproduction parts made to match what the brochures showed on a sales model, but bikes actually sold were sometimes different. What makes a CR -410 different? You don't know unless you have an original brochure that says what it has that makes it different. These bikes are not with their first owner, and how does one know what is original or correct unless they are the original owner, built or sold them, or had one way back when. One must realize that many of these bikes have obviously been restored and have some reporduction parts. The other difference I have noticed is with the sprocket diameter, number of teeth, differences in the brake assembly, added chain tesioners, and the throttle and hand brake parts suppliers.Īs for the other pictures posted in this discussion. But that tire shows up on all the other mini choppers with the jackshaft frame You can see it in the before restoration, second photo below. ![]() The second bike came with a different tread 530圆 Carlisle tire than my first mini chopper. The wear pattern is definitely that of a Tecumseh HS 40. It is not a flat plate welded on top of the tubes. The motor mount plate is different than my first bike. It does not seem to have a serial number that I can find. It has no red round Bonanza emblem nor does it have holes to mount one. It has the Jack shaft brackets and brake cable tabs on both sides. I bought another mini chopper to restore for my boy. I haven't found a serial number on the frame. No, it never had a bonanza red round plate with serial number. No, my bike is not exactly like the brochures and parts list that I still have, but i is exactly how it was purchased from a line of mini choppers at the Harley Dealer where it was bought in 1970. Yes, I put the STP stickers on the engine when I was 12. yes, some of the chrome is new and the paint is Duplicolor Chevy Orange engine paint. yes the motor plate was rewelded in 1972. I have owned my Scout CR 400 (made by Bonanza) since 1970. OK, there are at least two distinct series of frames for the Bonanza mini chopper. ![]() My avatar picture is the chopper I've had since 1970. Here's a picture of my second chopper with my spare seat. The exact reproduction seats are quite expensive. Even a bare fiberglass pan is hard to come by to have recovered. I have an extra used seat in fair condition if you need one. I'd use the rear wheel that you've got, but you could use almost anything up front till you can get a kidney bean wheel. Also Bonanzamini makes reproduction parts but are pricey, but excellent. There's a guy on this site who makes reproduction Bonanza brake drum sprockets and ones that will fit the Azusa Astro wheels if you want the "Torque Thrust" style wheel. All frames came with the little box shape flat bar mount near the headstock of the frame. The tanks were 4 X 7 and were the shorter of the two that Bonanza made. The cylindrical gas tank was an option for the Tecumseh powered model. ![]() Look at your engine mounting plate for the wear pattern where the engine would be, even under recent paint, this will tell you if yours was a Hodaka powered or Tecumseh powered bike and which model it would be called. Because the Hodaka uses the jackshaft with the wheel sprocket on the opposite side from the Tecumseh rear wheel set up, they had to be able to set the brake up on either side, hence the cable bracket on both sides. But I think all the frames eventually were made this way, and the Tecumseh powered CR400 version didn't use the jackshaft. Congrats on your frame! Bonanza changed the frame a little bit, adding the jackshaft mounts and adding additional slotted holes to allow for the Hodaka engine. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, I'm not an engineer or particle physicist but it basically polarizes the particles in the metal, I researched it one time for a short story I was writing. Almost (almost) everyone knows you don't put metal cutlery and foil in the microwave. Note: It does say on the pack not to microwave or put it in a kettle but if there are any lifehacks contrary to these warnings, I am not afraid to be a bit of a 'Daring Dan' and break the rules because sometimes I just want the world to descend into anarchy. So my question is, is there a lifehack / way to 'recharge' / reset a sodium acetate hand warmer without having a stove to keep water simmering for 10 minutes? But instead just using standard utensils or a kettle or a microwave? However, as mentioned, I am at work and unfortunately we do not have a stove for me to keep a pan simmering for 10 minutes but I do have a microwave and a kettle and other standard kitchen utensils. make it back into liquid form, and the instructions given for doing this is to put the pack in a pan filled with boiling water and then allow it to simmer for 10 minutes and it should be returned to it's original state. I used this on the way to work as I was getting a little chilly and now that I am at work I want to 'recharge' it, i.e. I have a pretty standard hand warmer with the metal discs in them to activate them - I did some research and found out that they are Sodium Acetate hand warmers and the disc is used to 'freeze' the liquid making it heat up. ![]() 8/1/2023 0 Comments Spectro xsort price![]() ![]() He promised me that it will probably come back with a much higher gold/ pgm reading. which as we all know eliminates the sulfer within the content. He told me to take the sample home and roast it slowly, at around 500 degrees F. The annalist was astounded by the amount of sulfer in the sample lol, which prompted him to reveal a lil device flaw the Xsort has, which is that the elements Iron and sulfer have the unfortunate affect of masking the actual ppm count for gold and pgm. Iron and sulfer came in first and second, with Fe 30 percent and S 22 percent. Copper was third on the list, reading a whopping 1485 ppm! Speaking of the Xsort, I had an assay done last week that utilized this exact device! Man this thing is sweet! It did a 60 second reading of my powdered ore sample, and it produced a readout of 41 different elements, starting with sample percentage totals first then going on down the line giving ppm results for the rest of the elements that remained. otherwise create any liability for or its affiliates. violate any provision in the Product Listing Policy link directly or indirectly to or include descriptions of goods or services or other materials that violate any law or regulation or are prohibited under this Agreement contain any computer viruses or other destructive devices and codes that have the effect of damaging, interfering with, intercepting or expropriating any software or hardware system, data or personal information solicit business from any Users in connection with a commercial activity that competes with contain any material that constitutes unauthorized advertising or harassment (including but not limited to spamming), invades anyone's privacy or encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law or regulation promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age be obscene or contain or infer any pornography or sex-related merchandising or any other content or otherwise promotes sexually explicit materials or is otherwise harmful to minors be defamatory, libelous, unlawfully threatening or unlawfully harassing violate any applicable law, statute, ordinance or regulation (including without limitation those governing export control, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination or false advertising) į. impersonate any person or entity, misrepresent yourself or your affiliation with any person or entity Į. relate to sale of products or services that infringe or otherwise abet or encourage the infringement or violation of any third party's copyright, patent, trademarks, trade secret or other proprietary right or rights of publicity or privacy, or any other Third Party Rights ĭ. be part of a scheme to defraud other Users of the Site or for any other unlawful purpose Ĭ. contain fraudulent information or make fraudulent offers of items or involve the sale or attempted sale of counterfeit or stolen items or items whose sales and/or marketing is prohibited by applicable law, or otherwise promote other illegal activities ī. ![]() 5.5 Each User hereby represents, warrants and agrees that information submitted to for display on the Site shall not:Ī. ![]() |
